CAMERON COUNTY CELEBRATES OPENING OF
NEW SANTA MARIA COMMUNITY PARK WITH RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY

Cameron County is pleased to announce the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Santa Maria Community Park, located at 33034 River Drive in La Feria, Texas, on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Located on a 10.83-acre tract of land, the new park includes numerous amenities, including a covered basketball court, a lighted baseball field, a lighted soccer field, a sand volleyball court, a Universal Design splash pad and playground, a 2,760-linear foot walking trail, a concessions and restroom building, elevated berms designed for cross-country running, a picnic shelter, bike racks and a repair station, native landscaping and butterfly garden, solar lighting illuminating the park throughout, and ample parking.

This project was made possible through funding assistance from the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department State Allocation Program, the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department Non-Urban Outdoor Local Park Grant Program, the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), and local funds from Cameron County. The total project cost is approximately $6.3 million.

“Cameron County remains committed to improving the health and wellness of our residents,” said County Judge Eddie Treviño, Jr. “With the addition of Santa Maria Community Park, residents and visitors alike will have even more opportunities to enjoy quality outdoor recreational spaces across Cameron County.”

“This park will have a lasting impact on the Santa Maria community,” stated Commissioner Gus Ruiz. “By bringing multiple sports and recreational amenities together in one location, families and residents of all ages will have a place to stay active, connect, and enjoy time together.”

The project’s architectural and engineering firm of record is Gomez Mendez Saenz Architects, with Peacock General Contractors, Inc. serving as the general contractor. Additional project partners include Spanco Building Systems, Park Place Recreation, and ExerPlay, Inc.
