Cameron County Mourns The Passing Of Former Treasurer Eduardo “Eddie” Gonzalez
Cameron County is saddened to announce the passing of Eduardo “Eddie” Gonzalez, former Cameron County Treasurer, passed away peacefully within the last week.
Mr. Gonzalez served the people of Cameron County with unwavering dedication and integrity throughout his career in public service earning the respect of colleagues and constituents alike for his fiscal stewardship and commitment to transparency. Mr. Gonzalez was sworn in January 1, 1995, and served as County Treasurer through December 31, 2006.
“Eddie was more than a public servant—he was a pillar of our community,” said Cameron County Judge Eddie Treviño, Jr. “His legacy is one of honesty, humility, and public service. My most sincere condolences go out to the entire Gonzalez family, and all his friends and those affected by his untimely passing.”
