CAMERON COUNTY RE-OPENS COUNTY BEACH ACCESS AREAS
In accordance with the Cameron County Dune Protection and Beach Access Plan, as approved by the Texas General Land Office, and for the purpose of public safety and/or property, Cameron County Judge Eddie Treviño, Jr. has ordered the re-opening of the following Cameron County beaches, effective today, February 23, 2026 at 8:30 a.m.:
- County Beach Access No.4
- County Beach Access No. 5/E.K. Atwood Park Pavilion
- County Beach Access No. 6
These County beach access areas were temporarily closed from Sunday, February 22, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. through today, Monday, February 23, 2026 at 8:30 a.m. for the protection and safety of the general public in light of the high tides and the undriveable land conditions.
During the temporary beach closures, County beach access areas on South Padre Island, such as Isla Blanca Park, remained open.
We continue to ask that all individuals be cautious when visiting County beaches and heed the advice of the lifeguards as well as the Flag Advisory System Signage at all times.
