CAMERON COUNTY REPORTS INCREASED BRIDGE CROSSINGS AND REVENUE IN Q1 OF FY 2026
Cameron County has received finalized border crossing data for the first quarter (Q1) of fiscal year (FY) 2026. During this period (October through December), the County experienced an increase of 49,887 crossings compared to the same months in FY 2025. Across all international bridges owned and operated by Cameron County, pedestrian and motor vehicle crossings increased by a total of 49,887 over the three-month period. Corresponding with this rise in traffic, the County also recorded a Q1 revenue increase of $1,193,831.09, a 21.62% increase from FY 2025 Q1. While these figures reflect only the first quarter of FY 2026, the trend indicates that Cameron County is likely to see continued growth in both cross-border traffic and related revenue throughout the remainder of the fiscal year compared to FY 2025.
“Revenue generated through border crossing fees supports the County’s ability to maintain financial stability while helping to offset operational costs,” says County Judge Eddie Treviño, Jr. “These additional revenue streams contribute to reducing the overall tax burden on residents and align with Cameron County’s commitment to fiscal responsibility and the diversification of funding sources to ensure long-term sustainability.”
