CAMERON COUNTY TAX ASSESSOR-COLLECTOR’S OFFICE
MAILS OUT 2025 TAX STATEMENTS

BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS — Cameron County Tax Assessor-Collector, Edelmiro “Eddie” Garcia, informs property owners that approximately 222,674 tax statements for tax year 2025 have been mailed out for personal property and real estate accounts. These tax statements include Cameron County and all other taxing jurisdictions within Cameron County due to the establishment of 100% consolidation. This mail-out consists of 206,765 real estate property accounts and 15,909 personal property accounts. The total levy for 2025 on all taxing jurisdictions will be $609,903,169.00. If taxpayers have not received a tax bill, they can still pay their taxes online at cameroncountytx.gov/tac or at any of our 10 Branch Offices countywide. As per Sec. 31.01 (g) of the Texas Property Tax Code, taxpayers are responsible for payment of property taxes regardless of whether or not they received a tax statement. Taxpayers may find their property tax balance on our website at cameroncountytx.gov/tac.

Property tax statements are mailed early to allow taxpayers to take advantage of the tax discounts that are offered by certain districts. Payments made in the month of October will receive a 3% discount, a 2% discount during the month of November, and a 1% discount during the month of December only for those districts that offer the discounts.  There are no discounts for taxes paid in January 2026.  Taxes for the year 2025 are due on January 31st, 2026, and become delinquent on February 1st, 2026.

Methods of Payment

Property owners who cannot pay their taxes in full can take advantage of various payment plan options, and/or make partial payments at any of the 10 Tax Office Branch locations.  Arrangements should be made as soon as possible to ensure that taxes are paid in full, or a substantial amount has been paid by January of 2026 to avoid any added penalties and interest.

  • Payments over the Internet – allows taxpayers to pay their taxes by electronic check in the convenience of their home or office over the internet 24/7 by going to gov/tac. Fees have been reduced when you pay online with an I-check (bank account and routing numbers are needed), a $1.00 fee will be charged for any payment made for $5,000.00 or less, and $3.00 for any payment made over $5,000.01(electronic checks only). This allows the taxpayer to skip the line at the Tax Office and avoid postage fees or credit card fees. It is the responsibility of the taxpayer to make sure all accounts are included and banking information is correct to avoid additional fees. (A 3% fee still applies if online payment is made using credit cards and/or debit cards.)
  • Partial payments – allows taxpayers to come into the office and pay their taxes in several payments.
  • Quarterly payments – allows taxpayers who are over 65 years of age or disabled, to pay their taxes in quarterly payments without penalty and accruing interest in accordance with Texas Property Tax Code Sec. 31.031
  • Tax payment agreement – allows a taxpayer to come into our office and sign a payment agreement to pay their taxes in accordance with Texas Property Tax Code Sec. 33.02
  • Mail-In payments – allows taxpayers to mail in their property tax payments using a check, money order, or cashier’s check.
  • Over the counter payments – when a taxpayer pays their taxes over the counter using their check, cash or credit card (VISA, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express) at any Tax Office locations and/or at any Lone Star National Bank in Cameron County. (3% fee on all credit cards)
