What We Do?
The Planning & Development Department oversees and supports a wide range of county initiatives, including:
- Administration and oversight of federal, state, and local grant programs
- Community development and infrastructure planning
- Grant compliance, reporting, and monitoring
- Strategic planning and long-range community initiatives
- Interdepartmental coordination on capital and development projects
- Support for Commissioners’ Court on planning-related matters
Our goal is to ensure public resources are managed responsibly and that projects deliver measurable benefits to the residents of Cameron County.

The Department of Transportation includes several divisions that collectively work together in managing the efficient implementation of all planning, design, and construction of the roads, bridges, and development within the county. The Department also oversees all mapping, residential and commercial permitting, land development, and engineering.
