On-Site Sewage Facility (Septic Systems)

The On-Site Sewage Facilities Septic Systems component is responsible for enforcing regulations, authorizing permits, conducting inspections, and investigating complaints related to on-site sewage systems. Additionally, this component reviews subdivision plats to ensure compliance with state OSSF requirements. The services provided include the following activities

Enforcement

Ensuring adherence to all applicable state and county guidelines regarding on-site sewage facilities.

Authorization

Approving the installation of new systems, addressing issues with existing systems, and overseeing upgrades to on-site sewage facilities.

Investigation

Addressing complaints related to on-site sewage facilities. Investigations are initiated within 72 hours of receiving a complaint, and follow-up inspections are conducted within a specified timeframe if necessary. In cases of non-compliance, issues are referred to local judicial authorities for appropriate legal action.

Platting & Development

Reviewing and approving subdivision plats to ensure their overall site suitability in compliance with the OSSF state requirements specified in Chapter 285.4.
