Workforce Program Cameron County Public Health

Workforce Development leads practices and objectives that will build a strong, capable and qualified workforce with up-to-date data and systems that will increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the department in responding to public health needs. Work addresses the foundational capabilities of public health, including assessment, preparedness, policy development, communications, community partnerships, governance, accountability and equity. Additionally, responsible for establishing human resource related planning, systems, processes and policies that ensure appropriate tools, a highly trained workforce and system to address existing and emerging health threats in a way that supports diversity and health equity.  

Through the Workforce Development initiatives this section of the department undertakes, we are committed to empowering the department’s workforce and building equity in everything we do, from expanding labor management and community partnerships to ensuring employees receive the education and training they need to maximize, succeed and thrive in their current and future positions. 

Ultimately, our mission is to create a prepared and sustainable workforce that will meet the current and future needs and requirements of our fast-growing department while at the same time supporting and enhancing our staff.
