Amador R. Rodriguez Academic & Vocational Center

is a highly structured and therapeutic residential facility for males between the ages of 14 and 17.

The Objective

The objective of the program is to provide a safe and secure environment that will instill in our cadets pro-social values such as:

  • spirituality
  • respect
  • good citizenship
  • service to the community

Highly Structured & Therapeutic

While enrolled at the facility, cadets adhere to regimented schedules that involve:

  • structure
  • physical training
  • education
  • counseling
  • treatment
  • OSHA vocational training.

Therapy & Substance Abuse Treatment

In addition to substance abuse treatment, cadets will receive individual and group therapy, in order to improve:

  • emotional regulation
  • behavioral response
  • coping with stress
  • building healthy relationships.

Treatment Services

Psychotherapy and substance abuse services are provided by our in-house Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor-Intern that provides treatment services under the Texas Juvenile Justice Department Chapter 353 Substance Use Standards.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

All cadets also have access to Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, which is an evidence based model that provides the cadet and family skills to cope with relationships, progress safely in the community, use positive life skills, and improve overall emotional and physical well-being.

Education

Cadets also attend school throughout the day, which requires the cadet to be classified as 8th grade or above, and will be supported by San Benito CISD. This also includes a GED component for those eligible. Cadets also receive building trades skills and OSHA safety training as part of the San Benito CISD CATE vocational training.

Cadets for Vets

Cadets at the Boot Camp are also involved in the Cadets for Vets Home Construction Program. Cadets learn vocational skills and trades to build homes which are moved and donated within the community.  This unique program is a certified secure facility with Texas Juvenile Justice Department post-adjudicated facilities in accordance to 343 standards.
