Cameron County Public Health is dedicated to protecting, promoting, and preserving the health and well-being of all residents in Cameron County, Texas.
Located at the southernmost tip of the state along the U.S.–Mexico border, our community is rich in culture, history, and diversity. We proudly serve both urban and rural areas, working to ensure that every individual—regardless of background or circumstance—has access to the resources they need to live a healthy life.

Our Services
- Clinical Services: Reproductive health, women’s health, pediatric and adult immunizations, tuberculosis program, STD treatment, and special needs case management.
- Environmental Health: Food safety inspections, vector control, septic system oversight, and animal shelter and control programs.
- Community Engagement: Health education and outreach through social media and in-person events such as health fairs, school presentations, and community events, to educate and empower the community.
- Public Health Preparedness: Outbreak investigations, disease surveillance, disaster response, and public health training.
- WIC (Women, Infants & Children): Nutrition counseling, breastfeeding support, and access to healthy foods for eligible families.
- Healthy Brain & Aging: Programs and resources to promote cognitive health, disease prevention, and wellness for older adults.
Our History
Established in 1925, Cameron County Public Health has grown from a small health unit into a comprehensive department serving thousands of residents each year. Through public health crises, natural disasters, and evolving community needs, we have remained a trusted resource for health, education, and support.
